Mrs. Callie L. Odum McElrath was born in Clay County, AL, to the late Mr. Willie Hinton Odum and Mrs. Annie Gunn Odum on January 28, 1930. She was the fifth child of seven children. All six siblings preceded her in death. Ethel Mae Odum, John Henry Odum, Willie Gene Odum, Annie Lizzie Thomas, Jimmie Lee Odum, and Loula Pearl Reeves.
Mrs. McElrath joined Spring Hill United Methodist Church in Clay County at an early age. After relocating to Coosa County she joined the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church where she was a faithful and devoted member. Mrs. McElrath was a member of the Missionary Society.
Mrs. McElrath married Denson McElrath on April 15, 1949 to this union five children were born. All five children preceded her death. Barbara Ann McElrath, David Lee McElrath Sr. along with three still angels. Denson McElrath passed away on November 1, 1969.
Mrs. McElrath was employed with Prime Healthcare at their Goodwater Healthcare Center. She retired after twenty-four years of service.
Mrs. McElrath transitioned to her eternal life on August 26, 2021 at Goodwater Healthcare Center.
Mrs. McElrath leaves to cherish her memories: Granddaughter, Davida L. McElrath of Antioch, TN; Grandson, David L. McElrath Jr. of Goodwater, Al; Daughter-in-law, Juanita McElrath of Goodwater, AL; Great grandson Richard RJ” Smith II of Antioch, TN; a devoted nephew Varnall Thomas of Goodwater, AL; along with a tribe of other nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends.
