Howard McKinney

Deacon Howard McKinney  was born June 04, 1941 in Coosa County, Alabama to the late Willie Dred McKinney and Adell Brown McKinney.

Deacon McKinney at and early age confessed Christ and joined the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church. During his journey at Mt. Olive he served as a Deacon, Sunday School, Deacon’s, and Deacon Wives teacher, sung in the church choir, the male chorus, cemetery chairperson and drove the church van.

Deacon McKinney worked at the Shell Cast, Avondale Mills, Rock Quarry, Kimberly Clark/US Alliance. Deacon Howard was well known in the area and a hard worker and a kind hearted man.  He loved to go watch the children play sports at Coosa Central, and tried to coach from the sideline. He also enjoyed working outside, fishing, hunting, and he met No stranger.

Deacon McKinney met and married Nettie L. Johnson on March 11, 1961 and to this union one daughter and three sons were born.

Deacon McKinney passed from time to eternity on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at his residence.

He leaves his memories behind to be cherished by his loving wife, Nettie L. Johnson McKinney of Goodwater, AL; one daughter, Shelia Javan McKinney Thomas of Goodwater, AL; three sons, Gary Aloyious (Rita) McKinney of Goodwater, AL, Xavier (Martha A.) McKinney of Talladega Spring, AL and Tony Wycharski (Sandra) McKinney of  Columbus GA; ten grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren; one sister, Coletta M. Hampton, Cleveland, OH, four brothers-in-law, two sister-in-law; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
