Mae Florence Funderburg
Mother Mae Florence Funderburg was born December 16, 1928 to the late Mr. Ernest Simmons and Frances Funderburg Nix in Talladega County, Alabama.
She Confessed hope in Christ and joined the Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she was very active.
She attended and graduated from R. R. Moton High School.
Mother Mae Florence was a friend to many, she was their counselor, mentor or simply “Mother Funderburg†always willing to help where she could.
Mother Funderburg, was proceeded in death by her father: Ernest Simmons, mother: Frances Funderburg Nix, grandmother: Mae Hannah Funderburg, one daughter: Emma Pearl, two grandsons: Marty Graham and Terrance Glenn, two sisters: Clara Kirkland, and Catherine Kelly, two brothers: John Nix, and James Nix.
Mother transitioned this life on Friday, December 11, 2015, at her resident, 1273 Truitt Road, Sylacauga, AL.
Left to cherish her loving memory are her children: three sons, Gregory (Rita Swain) Funderburg, Marty Ray (Dorothy) Funderburg, and Michael (Yvette) Funderburg all of Sylacauga, AL; three daughters; Laverne Tonns; Sylacauga, AL, Cynthia (Gary) Brown; Childersburg, AL, and Brianna Funderburg; Douglasville, GA; twenty seven grandchildren; twenty four great-grandchildren; one sister: Mae Ella Dates; Sylacauga, AL; and a host of , nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
